A new anti-drug campaign has a wild idea to stop kids from drinking and doing drugs

If you're an emoji-illiterate old person, like me, that string of pictograms above probably reads something like "Hi sleep F beer NG peace bicep box." But the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, the anti-drug group behind the anti-drug ads of your childhood, hopes that it means something completely different to today's teens: they've recently launched the world's first emoji-only anti-drug PSA campaign.

New Mexico: Gov. lifts secrecy veil on medical pot producers

SANTA FE – The names of New Mexico medical marijuana dispensaries and their employees will soon be made public, under a directive announced Wednesday by the office of Gov. Susana Martinez.

The Republican governor’s decision will reverse a long-standing confidentiality provision in the state’s Medical Cannabis Program and comes less than a week after a lawsuit was filed in an attempt to strike down the regulation that allows for the names of medical marijuana producers to be kept secret.

It will not apply to the 15,625 certified patients in the medical pot program – just the producers and their employees.

Underage Marijuana Sales on Par With Underage Liquor Sales

High-school stoner looking to score weed or undercover agent?

As Heidi mentioned in Morning News, minors in Washington State seem about as likely to get away with buying legal weed as buying beer from a supermarket.

Yesterday, the Washington State Liquor Control Board announced that 19 of the state's 157 recreational marijuana stores had sold to underage, undercover buyers—an 87.9 percent compliance rate, which is roughly the same as the state's rate of underage alcohol sales. (Underage sales of illegal drugs, of course, have a zero percent compliance rate.)

Oregon cities look to ban marijuana sales

VALE, Ore. -- On July 1, recreational marijuana became legal in Oregon.

Now, communities in eastern Oregon are taking action against the commercial sale of pot.

Many cities, like Vale, Nyssa, and Ontario that were highly against the passing of Measure 91, are looking at passing ordinances that would ban the commercial sale of marijuana in their city.

Last election, nearly 70 percent of the people living in Malheur County voted against Measure 91, a ballot measure that legalized marijuana in the state of Oregon.

But now they're getting a second chance to reject marijuana sales.

Anchorage police seize marijuana delivery cars

ANCHORAGE –

The owners of a new marijuana business in Anchorage are furious, accusing police of stealing from them.

Wednesday night, a delivery driver with Absolutely Chronic Deliver Company — or ACDC — had his car seized by Anchorage police officers after making a drop at the Lakefront Anchorage, formerly the Millennium Hotel.

“I came out and I had two APD officers tell me to step out of my vehicle, yelling and screaming, ‘Show your hands, turn off your vehicle, get out,’” said Michael Everly. “They put me in the back of one of their police cars.”

ACDC is a delivery business that brings donated marijuana to customers for a $10 delivery fee. Michael Crites, co-owner of ACDC, said the police had no justification for this action.

Marijuana grow facilities going outdoors to reduce electricity usage in Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY - As Colorado's marijuana industry grows at an incredible rate, so is the use of electricity to power the increasing number of grow facilities.  All this, as state deadlines for higher renewable energy requirements draw near, in just a few years. And Pueblo County is home to dozens of these grow operations, with no sign of business slowing down.

"Their electricity usage characteristically tends to be high density in nature," said Bret Jones, Black Hills Energy Sr. Program Manager, External Affairs.

A lot of lights, air conditioning and de-humidifiers are staples of an indoor marijuana grow. And in the past year and a half, Jones has seen the number of such facilities grow in the Pueblo County region.
