First of its Kind Study Finds Virtually No Driving Impairment Under the Influence of Marijuana

As cannabis prohibition laws crumble seemingly by the day, it’s allowing more research to be performed on this psychoactive substance that has long been a part of the human experience.

The first study to analyze the effects of cannabis on driving performance found that it caused almost no impairment. The impairment that it did cause was similar to that observed under the influence of a legal alcohol limit.

Researchers at the University of Iowa’s National Advanced Driving Simulator carried out the study, sponsored by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, National Institute of Drug Abuse, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy

Why "Craft Cannabis" is the Future of Marijuana

If we can do it for beer and coffee, why not cannabis?

The marijuana edibles (and drinkables) marketplace in Washington State has been live for more than a year -- and what a tumultuous year it's been! We've seen huge dips and swells in the availability of raw material as producers ride the wave of growing seasons and demand. We've seen many of the most-profitable shops in the State opening in our biggest cities to record-breaking sales. We've seen several interesting products launch into the fledgling market -- and now have a much better idea of what a high tolerance our customers have for experimentation in taste, buzz and experience. We couldn't be more excited about where we've been and where we're going.

Cannabis: The Most Important Vegetable on the Planet

“If cannabis were discovered in the Amazon rain-forest today, people would be clambering to make as much use as they could of all of the potential benefits of the plant. Unfortunately, it carries with it a long history of being a persecuted plant.” ~ Dr. Donald Abrams, Chief of Hematology Oncology at San Francisco General Hospital

SF Government Tries Again with Cannabis — Come Meet the City's Weed Deciders

A few years ago, with cannabis legalization supposedly around the corner, San Francisco city government tried to engage the local marijuana industry — then more commonly referred to as the medical cannabis "movement."

A city supervisor created a 15-member "task force" for marijuana, one of dozens of task forces and commissions in San Francisco, and stocked it with dispensary owners, growers, and "patient advocates."

State to medical marijuana patients: Don’t freak out over delays to get your cards

If you recently applied to obtain a medical marijuana card, bad news: It could take months for the state to process your application.

The good news is, by Oct. 1, state officials should be back to rubber stamping applications in 30 days.

“It’s going to get nothing but better as we regroup and plan for the future,” said Pam Graber, of the Nevada Medical Marijuana Program. “We found ourselves with (an unusually) high volume of applications, but we are catching up.”

Starting in late spring, the Nevada Medical Marijuana Program received a rush of applications, which Graber attributed to the opening of a brick-and-mortar dispensary in Northern Nevada. The Las Vegas area’s only dispensary, Euphoria Wellness, opened Aug. 26. Two dispensaries operate in Washoe County.

Legalize medical marijuana? See how a decision can affect this cancer patient

What is not to like about medical marijuana? It treats pain, vomiting, fatigue, anxiety, depression, insomnia, seizures, muscle spasms, Crohn’s disease and allows many cancer patients to resume remarkably normal lives. It is not addictive. It does not interact with other medicines. It acts quickly and is easy to adjust. It can be consumed in numerous ways. It is safer than essentially any other drug: 1,500 Tylenol deaths in the USA in the last ten years; overdoses from marijuana in the entire world literature? None.

To that list, I add another: Compared to other medicines, it is down right cheap.

Oregon marijuana shops begin sales to recreational users

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon marijuana shops began selling marijuana Thursday for the first time to recreational users, marking a big day for the budding pot industry.

Some of the more than 250 dispensaries that already offer medical marijuana in Oregon opened their doors soon after midnight — just moments after it became legal to sell to anyone who is at least 21.

At Portland's Shango Premium Cannabis, co-founder Shane McKee said the first sale to an excited customer came about a minute after midnight, with many others waiting.

"It looks like there is about 60-70 in line out front," he said in a telephone interview shortly after midnight. "They all seem extremely eager."

That first buyer, Davia Fleming of Portland, said the sales launch was important.
