In medical marijuana states, 'pot doctors' push boundaries

The green-typeface slogan "WE'ED like to be your doctor!" -unmistakably weed-friendly - has attracted hundreds of medical marijuana patients in less than a year to Dr. Bodo Schneider's clinics in southern Illinois and suburban Chicago.

In New Jersey, Dr. Anthony Anzalone has a similar following at his three clinics, marketed online with a marijuana leaf logo and a "DrMarijuanaNJ" web address.

The two marijuana-friendly doctors in states with similar laws face starkly different treatment by government regulators. When it comes to oversight of boundary-pushing doctors, enforcement practices vary in the 23 states allowing medical cannabis.

Secondary business sector sprouts from marijuana

Bend man joins growing secondary marijuana industry

REDMOND —Kelly Martin believes you don’t have to grow or sell marijuana to make money in the marijuana business.

He launched two companies in the past year that capitalize on legal, recreational marijuana in the Pacific Northwest. The oldest is DaKine 420 , a purveyor of fertilizers and processed coconut husks, in which marijuana is grown. Just finishing its first year, the company, which employs five in a 9,000-square-foot warehouse off SW Veterans Way, is set to clear about $700,000 in gross sales, Martin, 54, said recently.

Florida Lawmakers Look At Medical Marijuana Bill

MIAMI(CBSMiami/ NSF) — A Senate panel is taking up a bill this week that would allow terminally ill patients to use medical marijuana.

All this as lawmakers continue to grapple with whether to go beyond a 2014 law that approved a limited form of cannabis.

The Senate Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations Subcommittee is scheduled Thursday to take up the bill (SB 460), sponsored by Sen. Rob Bradley, R-Fleming Island, that would allow marijuana for patients with terminal conditions.

A similar House bill (HB 307), sponsored by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach, and Rep. Katie Edwards, D-Plantation, has been approved by one House panel and is pending in the House Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee.

Why the End of Federal Pot Prohibition Could Be Only 5 Years Away

Is it possible that the walls will crumble even faster than we think?

Rob Kampia thinks so, and he's a very well-placed observer. As head of the Marijuana Policy Project, Kampia has his finger on the pulse of pot politics as well as anyone, and he made a pretty startling prediction at the International Drug Reform Conference in suburban Washington last weekend.

The Secret World Of Cannabis Trimmers

Perfect marijuana doesn't grow on trees, but did you ever wonder how buds get their distinctive appearance? It largely comes down to trimmers: workers who carefully snip bushy cannabis into compact, ready-for-sale buds.

Every year California's cannabis-rich North Coast sees an influx of seasonal workers, mostly twenty-somethings, looking for work processing marijuana. While there isn't much hard data on the number of seasonal laborers in the underground industry, local experts tell The Washington Times between 7,000 and 12,000 workers arrive in California's pot-rich towns during the trimming season from mid-September through the end of November.

Researcher found a new way to change the flavor of cannabis

Trying out some of the 2015 Michigan Cannabis Cup entries gave us all a taste of how flavorful this wonderful plant can be on its very own. Strains like Strawberry Banana, Zkittlez, Tangie and Orange Cookies show just how versatile this plant can be for breeders who seek flavor, but if that wasn’t enough, recent developments have taught us a new way of flavoring cannabis in the most naturally unnatural way possible.
