U.S. Officials Warn Against Cannabis and Bitcoin Investment

Colorado Securities Commissioner (CSC) Gerald Rome had some things to say concerning investments in digital currency and cannabis. It seems the state employee where reefer is legalized doesn’t see the incredible amounts of capital injection happening all around the world from these businesses. In fact, it’s interesting he and other U.S. officials have not seen the level of wealth being poured into the state provided by cannabis companies.

Are medical marijuana users risking a DUI?

Illinois has given 3,300 people licenses to use medical marijuana, but it hasn't set a threshold at which it considers them safe to drive.

That means it is up to a police officer to decide if someone with a medical marijuana license seems impaired and should be charged with driving under the influence, says Pete Baroni, a professor of law at Loyola University of Chicago and former DuPage County prosecutor.

Medical marijuana users would commonly have signs of the drug in their blood or urine, since it can show up for weeks after use.

Marijuana social network Massroots enjoys natural high of success

The idea for a social network specifically geared towards cannabis users came to Isaac Dietrich, appropriately enough, while he was smoking a joint with his best friend. “We thought of all our friends who smoked,” Dietrich, who has been smoking cannabis “on a daily basis” since he was 15, told the Guardian.

“Almost no one posted about it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, because that’s where their families, bosses and coworkers are connected to them,” he said. “I wouldn’t want my grandmother to see a picture of me taking a bong rip every time she logs into Facebook.”

New marijuana rules get tougher on pesticides in Oregon cannabis industry

Starting next year, recreational and medical marijuana sold in Oregon must be screened for nearly 60 pesticides commonly used in cannabis cultivation.

Labs analyzing pesticides will have to be accredited by the state, a rigorous process designed to ensure they are using appropriate equipment and scientific methods.

Labs, not growers or processors, will be required to take samples from every batch. Marijuana concentrates, which tend to be contaminated at higher levels than flowers, must be tested before they go onto store shelves or used to make edible products.

And marijuana that tests at levels higher than what the state allows must be destroyed under the watchful eye of a state regulator.

Colorado: Gov. Hickenlooper orders pesticide-tainted marijuana destroyed

DENVER — Colorado's governor ordered the destruction Thursday of marijuana treated with unapproved pesticides, his first action on the matter after months of product recalls and media warnings about unhealthy pesticides on pot.

The executive order by Gov. John Hickenlooper called marijuana treated with certain pesticides a "threat to public safety" and said it should be destroyed.

The governor acknowledged that there's scant scientific evidence about which pesticides and fungicides are safe to use on marijuana, but he said that questionable pot should be destroyed until more is known.

Design Concept Revealed for New Chain of Cannabis Retail Stores

The McBride Company, a creative firm who specialize in hospitality and leisure destinations, has revealed its design concept for a national chain of cannabis retail stores named ‘Pineapple Express’. The studio was tasked with providing a concept that creates a welcoming and comfortable place for consumers to shop with direct access to knowledgeable experts. The scheme steers away from a traditional consultation counter, which is commonly used as the central feature in marijuana dispensaries, in favor of a hawaiian resort aesthetic.

Next tech trend? Marijuana ordered like pizza

One morning in September, I logged on to the website of HelloMD, a medical start-up that promises to connect patients with doctors instantly over the internet. I filled out my personal details, explained my ailment – I often get heartburn – and entered in my credit card number to cover the $50 consultation fee. Within 10 minutes, a paediatrician licensed to practise medicine in my home state of California popped up on my screen. She appeared to be sitting in her home – there were a few teddy bears and ceramic figurines on a cabinet behind her – and she wore a red shirt, not a white coat.

Mile-high city just got higher: Denver’s first cannabis-friendly B&B

When Colorado legalised cannabis possession in 2014, the anticipated ‘Green Rush’ of dope tourists didn’t quite happen. But the first stoners’ B&B in Denver is now leading the way

When Colorado’s Amendment 64 took effect in January 2014, effectively legalising marijuana, hordes of tourists flocked to the state to try the barely legal drug – only to find there was nowhere to smoke it.

NJ Senate Hearing To Focus On Possibility Of Legalizing Marijuana

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — New Jersey lawmakers will consider the possibility Monday of legalizing recreational marijuana use in the state.

The state Senate is holding a judiciary hearing on the hot-button issue, WCBS 880’s Levon Putney reported.

Lawmakers are closely studying Colorado, Oregon and Washington, where pot use has been legalized.

Some of the big question marks center on tax dollars, business growth, security and whether banks would participate.
