Harvest One Inc. (“Harvest One” or the “Company”) (TSXV: HVT; OTCQX: HRVOF), through it’s wholly-owned subsidiary Satipharm Ltd.(“Satipharm”) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to distribute their proprietary Satipharm CBD 10mg Gelpell® through Holland & Barrett, Europe’s largest retailer of nutritional supplements and wellness products with over 145 years of experience in the health and wellness industry.

Competition in the retail cannabis market is about to pick up in the Swan City. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis has released more licenses to sell cannabis across the province, including two in Grande Prairie, which went the Canna Cabana and Peaceleaf. That now makes three licenses granted in the city, as Lucky Leaf had been the lone licensee since the legalization of recreational marijuana use back in October.

Last week the FDA held its first-ever hearing on CBD, the non-psychoactive substance in cannabis. It has long-been used for medical applications and now that it’s being put into food items and sold on a mass-scale, the FDA is requesting more information. The hearing lasted nearly 10-hours and saw more than 100 speakers testify about the wide range of experiences and segments of the industry over the years. At the end of the day, everything seems to come down to compliance yet the FDA still has to determine how it will regulate CBD.

Cannabis stocks dipped on Thursday, with shares broadly down across US and Canadian markets.

The North American Marijuana Index, which tracks the top cannabis stocks in the US and Canada, was down 1.5% to 242.7 points on Thursday afternoon. The Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences Index ETF dropped 1.7% to C$18.49. The newly launched OTCQX Cannabis Index was down 2.5% at 770.5 points. 

With medical cannabis usage now legal across Canada and in 33 US states, licensed producers have been engaging in lab work, clinical trials, and scientific studies to determine the specific uses for cannabis in the medical field. 

Canopy Growth Corporation (TSX: WEED; NYSE: CGC), through the company’s medical division Spectrum Therapeutics, today outlined a two year research plan to find new uses for cannabis and new ways to market products towards specific ailments. 

After the fluctuations of marijuana stocks over the last year, Aphria (NYSE:APHA) stock still trades more than 50% below its 52-week high. Investors sold off Aphria stock, as many questioned whether APHA was a “shell game”after it bought assets in Latin America.

However, the executives who drove that purchase have left Aphria. The company has now hired a well-regarded executive as its interim CEO. Due to its current multiple and improved strategic decision-making, Aphria stock could move much higher as the company’s reputation improves.

After months of sizzling gains, marijuana stocks cooled off in a big way in May. The Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences ETF, the first tradable cannabis ETF that holds more than four dozen pot stocks of various weightings, fell by more than 13% in May after having tripled the S&P 500's return through the first four months of the year.

The Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island says visitors hoping to smoke cannabis on the Island this summer may have a tough time finding a place to do it legally. 

As it stands, it's against the law on P.E.I. to smoke pot in public. It's left up to the owners of tourist accommodations to decide whether to allow guests to light up in their private rooms or in designated areas outdoors on their properties. 

CEO Kevin Mouflier said many owners he's heard from have decided not to allow pot to be smoked anywhere. 

"It's back to the [fact] that a lot of travellers do not like smoking period," said Mouflier. "Whether it be cigarette smoke or anything, they want to have that clean feeling of no smoke in the rooms or public areas."

Though it's up for debate, legal marijuana might be the growth opportunity of our generation, with Wall Street analysts expecting global sales to grow by four to six times what was generated in 2018. This could put the cannabis industry on par with global giants like the soda industry roughly a decade from now. These estimates, along with the public's rapidly changing perception of pot, have investors excited about the long-term prospects for marijuana stocks.

June 2019 might hold some surprises for cannabis stocks. With the recent market downtrend, there are many great cannabis stocks potentially selling at a discount. It's become evident that cannabis is now consolidating and potentially setting up for the next wave of volatility.

Whether that wave proves to be bullish or not is yet to be determined. For June 2019, there are a few stocks worth watching.
