Why much-maligned Cronos Group could be a sleeping giant

After soaring more than 120% by early March, Cronos Group (NASDAQ: CRON) quickly became the subject of scorn. My Motley Fool colleague Sean Williams called Cronos "the most overvalued pot stock" soon thereafter.

Pure cannabis cigarettes to be introduced to Canadian cannabis market

THC BioMed Intl Ltd. ("THC BioMed", or the "Company") (CSE: THC) is pleased to announce that it is the first Canadian Licensed Producer to automate the pre-rolling of cigarettes containing 100% cannabis (the "Pure Cannabis Cigarettes"). In the same way automation changed the tobacco industry, THC BioMed is confident the automation of Pure Cannabis Cigarettes will bring meaningful changes to the current cannabis industry and its bottom line.

The automated cigarette manufacturing plant has been installed at THC BioMed's flagship Acland Road location.  THC will begin the production and sales of commercial-grade Pure Cannabis Cigarettes, a first in Canada.

Are these marijuana stocks buys yet?

The marijuana stock market has been fueled by a large amount of growth for some time now. With so much positivity for the future of the industry, it looks as though many companies are moving toward reaching their coming goals in terms of expansion and marijuana growth capacity.

While most of the focus has remained on the companies that grow the substance, it seems as though there is a lack of attention for the companies that are not solely in the production of cannabis and contribute other factors to the space. All in all, marijuana stocks seem to have individual characteristics that make them intriguing to many investors.

Promise of marijuana leads scientists on search for evidence

Marijuana has been shown to help ease pain and a few other health problems, yet two-thirds of U.S. states have decided pot should be legal to treat many other conditions with little scientific backing.

At least 1.4 million Americans are using marijuana for their health, according to an Associated Press analysis of states that track medical marijuana patients.

The number of medical marijuana cardholders more than tripled in the last five years as more states jumped on the bandwagon. The analysis is based on data from 26 states and the District of Columbia. The total climbs to 2.6 million patients if California, Washington and Maine are included, the AP estimates.

Why Aurora Cannabis (TSX:ACB) doesn’t fear a supply glut

For cannabis investors, Aurora Cannabis (TSX:ACB)(NYSE:ACB) needs no introduction. The Edmonton-based pot grower is easily one of the most popular cannabis companies in North America, particularly among Millennials. However, this popularity has yet to translate into meaningful gains on equity markets. This shouldn’t be a cause for concern, however, as the marijuana sector is still in its early stages.

City council expected to debate policy preventing legal weed sales in DTES

The debate on a motion proposing easier access for opioid alternatives in the city’s Downtown Eastside is expected to begin again Wednesday, when Vancouver city council meets to discuss policy and strategic priorities.

Submitted by Coun. Rebecca Bligh in late May, the motion titled “Cannabis as an Alternative to Opiates and More Dangerous Drugs on the Downtown Eastside” proposes amending an almost four-year-old exclusion zone keeping medical marijuana from being sold in one of the city’s most vulnerable communities.

“What I’m asking is well-considered exceptions to that rule, and that city staff come back and make recommendations to council,” Bligh told CTV News Vancouver in an interview Tuesday.

3 reasons to keep marijuana out of your TFSA

Since the cannabis legalization bill was first introduced in parliament, stocks in the sector have been on a tear. Bringing the recreational and medical cannabis sector out of the shadows and into the mainstream has helped create an industry that could be worth $200 billion by the end of the decade.

Many of these stocks have been millionaire-makers over the past few years and now trade at multi-billion dollar valuations. However, it might be too late for investors to enter the space now. Here are three reasons that savvy investors with a healthy aversion to risk should keep cannabis stocks out of their tax-free savings account (TFSA) portfolios.
