Wisconsin split on decriminalizing marijuana

He calls marijuana a gateway drug to harder substances, saying “it’s a big jump between someone having a beer and smoking marijuana.” And his fellow Republicans who control the state Legislature maintain there is not enough support among their ranks for changing the law.

But that doesn’t mean the issue is not up for public debate in the Badger state. Rep. Melissa Sargent proposed bills in the state assembly during the last two sessions that would legalize marijuana for medicinal and recreational use.

Could a 'sniff test' lead to early autism diagnosis?

A new study published in the journal Current Biology has identified differences in the way people with autism respond to smells, suggesting a "sniff test" could be used for early diagnosis of the condition.

Researchers say a 'sniff test' may be a feasible way to diagnose autism early, after finding children with the disorder have different sniff responses to those without autism.

Think of a pleasant smell - a bunch of flowers, for example. You would likely take a big sniff in order to inhale the floral aroma. When it comes to bad smell, however, you would restrict the airflow in your nose to avoid inhaling it.

Carly Fiorina Shortchanges Marijuana Research

In questioning the value of medicinal marijuana, Carly Fiorina said “we don’t understand how it interacts with other drugs.” In fact, there is information about marijuana’s interactions with other medications, although major clinical trials using marijuana have been limited by its legal status.

Cannabis and compromises

In 2012 Colorado voters legalized the sale and consumption of marijuana for recreational purposes. Some ski towns have embraced marijuana, treating it little differently than alcohol. But others have been biding their time.

To Vail and other towns, cannabis use by visitors and residents is an undeniable reality. But that doesn't mean they will allow stores selling THC-infused products.

Here in Canada recreational marijuana use is still illegal though access to medical marijuana has been completely reinvented. This has come with its own headache.
