$650 Million Worth of Hemp Clothes are Sold In The US….None Of It Grown In The US

Meet Hemp Blue….
They are fighting for the right to grow agricultural hemp in the US. Their product line is sure to please all hipsters around the country….Hemp Denim.

Hemp Denim, really?

Yes, really! While our first collection isn’t made entirely out of hemp, our goal is to create an environmentally friendly denim brand, made entirely out of agricultural hemp. Hemp Blue is supporting the movement to legalize industrial hemp farming in the US. Growing industrial hemp is already legal in almost every industrialized nation including Canada, Russia, China, most of Europe, Argentina and Chile. These countries are making millions of dollars of hemp textiles a year while saving the environment.

DEA chief says smoking marijuana as medicine "is a joke"

DEA chief Chuck Rosenberg on Wednesday rejected the notion that smoking marijuana is "medicine," calling the premise a "joke."

"What really bothers me is the notion that marijuana is also medicinal -- because it's not," Rosenberg said in a briefing to reporters. "We can have an intellectually honest debate about whether we should legalize something that is bad and dangerous, but don't call it medicine -- that is a joke."

As more and more states experiment with loosening marijuana laws, Rosenberg said that people shouldn't conflate the issue of legalizing recreational marijuana with medicinal marijuana.

Ignore Ohio: Pot Legalization Is Inevitable

Legal weed may not be a reality in Ohio just yet, but the national prospects for legalization are bright

A well-funded initiative to legalize medical and recreational marijuana in Ohio lost 64 percent to 36 percent Tuesday, but legalization's national prospects are much brighter than this trouncing implies.

In polls, more than 80 percent of voters in Ohio favor medical marijuana, and a small majority want to see it legalized for all adults. These numbers are roughly in line with national sentiment.

Privateer CEO wants to establish a national brand of pot

DUBLIN — Brendan Kennedy wants his obituary to read: "I built companies that helped end the cannabis prohibition around the world."

He also predicts that recreational marijuana use will be "fully legal at the federal level in the United States within the next two years."

Kennedy, chief executive of a Silicon Valley-founded firm, Privateer Holdings, is competing to establish a national brand of pot. But his comments Wednesday on stage at Dublin's Web Summit come when there is little clarity that U.S. federal laws would allow such a potentially massive market and with little reliable data.

Next year's U.S. presidential election could further complicate a debate on the issue that has divided Congress, regulators and the American public.

The USA may be about to entirely legalise marijuana

US presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has introduced a bill to the Senate today that proposes the legalisation of the recreational use of marijuana nationwide. “The Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act” would entirely remove weed both from the Controlled Substances Act and from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s “most dangerous drugs list”.

Sanders principal motivation for the move is the high numbers of Americans who have their career and social prospects destroyed by arbitrary convictions for offences related to marijuana. Speaking as George Mason University last week, Sanders explained, “Too many Americans have seen their lives destroyed because they have criminal records as a result of marijuana uses. That’s wrong. That has got to change.”

Will 'Big Marijuana' obliterate the small family farms of Mendocino County?

It's not every day you get invited to a Mendocino County pot farm. For so long, the folks who grow medical marijuana have lived in the legal shadows, caught in a squeeze between local officials who say they can grow and sell the stuff, and the feds, who say they are drug dealers if they do.

But the four 20-somethings who run PolyKulture Farms want out of the cannabis closet. Like any organic farmers, they are proud of what they grow, proud of their methods and proud of their respect for the land.

Why the Marijuana Industry Is Happy That Ohio Didn't Legalize Weed

Ohio vote was against monopoly not marijuana, say campaigners

Advocates eye 2016 after voters decisively rejected Issue 3 which would have handed control of a legal cannabis industry to a small group of millionaires

Marijuana legalization advocates in Ohio are turning their attention to 2016, after voters on Tuesday rejected a constitutional amendment to legalize recreational use in the Buckeye State – a measure critics said would have enshrined an oligopoly in the state constitution.

Issue 3, as the proposal was known to Ohioans, lost in a landslide at the ballot box Tuesday, an embarrassing defeat for backers of the campaign, who poured over $20m into the race. About 65% of Ohians opposed the initiative, and 35% voted in favor.
