Wisconsin: Lawmakers To Consider New Rules For Accessing Marijuana-Based Medication

CBD oil is derived from cannabis, making it difficult to obtain legally in Wisconsin.

State legislators are trying again to pass a law addressing access to a marijuana-based medication for families with children who suffer from a rare seizure disorder.

A state law passed last year legalized cannabidiol, or CBD oil, for medical purposes, as long as the liquid doesn't contain the THC that gives pot users a high. The bill that will get a hearing on Tuesday removes a requirement that families must get a prescription to obtain the cannabidiol, along with rules for who may legally dispense it, in an effort to improve access to CBD.

Why Are People Overlooking Marijuana Legalization Efforts In Michigan?

I have been following Michigan marijuana politics since I started this blog in 2010. I actually watched prior to that from afar, but after co-founding this blog in 2010, I have always kept a keen eye on Michigan. One of my favorite activists on this planet is Rick Thompson. You may recognize his name since I syndicate his articles on this site. Rick’s site is called The Compassion ChroniclesThere is no better source for Michigan marijuana news than his site, and I encourage you to check it out. I literally check the site a few times a day to see if Rick has posted something new.

Florida: Panel endorses expanding medical marijuana plan to 20 growers

TALLAHASSEE — Patients who have been given a year to live could soon be allowed to use marijuana to ease their pain.

A Florida House panel on Tuesday okayed legislation that would expand an existing, small medical marijuana program and a law allowing terminal patients to try experimental drugs. Now, with two doctors' approval, a patient can buy marijuana from a licensed grower in the state.

"Cannabis should be the first option for patients, rather than the last resort," said Rep. Katie Edwards, D-Plantation, speaking on behalf of Cathy Jordan, a Parrish resident who has suffered from ALS for 29 years. "No one should have to go through what I did to get their medication."

As you already know, marijuana is primarily a cash business. U.S. Economy Increasingly Dominated by Monopolies as 2015 Corporate Mergers Continue

There’s more evidence that corporate America is becoming ever more monopolistic and that’s not good for small businesses or consumers. This year is on track to see the most corporate mergers and takeovers since the Great Recession of 2008, according to many business page reports that said October was the fifth biggest month ever for mergers.

Going into court Monday morning, Shona Banda said she was “nervous but not scared.”

About a dozen supporters gathered in front of the Finney County Courthouse to support Banda, a Garden City medicinal marijuana advocate who was in court for a preliminary hearing on drug charges and a child endangerment charge.

Banda is charged with endangering a child, distribution or possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of school property, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Legalizing Weed: Industrial Hemp's Most Unlikely Champions

Industrial hemp is dramatically different than what most people think about when marijuana is mentioned. This crop has thousands of uses in fields as diverse as textiles, transportation, and beauty products. But because of its confusion with the legalizing weed movement, the cultivation of industrial hemp is still illegal in the U.S. However, because of the economic possibilities it represents, the plant has some unlikely champions.

Former CIA Director James Woolsey is one of industrial hemp’s biggest proponents. Woolsey sees the crop as a potential energy source that could end the dependence of the U.S. on oil and other nonrenewable resources.

Snoop Dogg’s Pot Products Look Like Artisanal Chocolate

POT IS IN for a big change. As more states legalize the herbal commodity, the companies selling it will find themselves in stiffer and stiffer competition with one another. Of course, where there’s competition, there’s marketing—and where’s there’s marketing, there’s branding.

Haze lingers over medical marijuana use in workplace

DANVILLE -- Marijuana has long been banned in many workplaces, but with medical marijuana now being legally dispensed in the state, many employers have questions. Tuesday, they got some answers.

There is still a lot of gray area and employers actually have a lot of flexibility in how they handle the law. A conference at Danville Area Community College was aimed at helping bosses figure out what's okay and what's not okay with marijuana use.

Medical marijuana use is not protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act, even by card-carrying patients since it's federally banned.
