Canada: Demand for medical marijuana 'accelerating'

Note: Ronan Levy, director of Canadian Cannabis Clinics, said the company plans to open a clinic in Sudbury. An exact site for the clinic remains to be confirmed, but it will likely be downtown and operating this month. The Sudbury clinic will be 13th one in Ontario for the company, which is the country's largest operator of clinics specializing in medical cannabis.

While the concentration of medicinal marijuana dispensaries is mainly in downtown Toronto, access to the drug isn't just exclusively for those living in the 416 area code.

Canadian Cannabis Clinics has sparked up 11 locations throughout the GTA -- including one recently in Mississauga -- and southern Ontario since September 2014.

Vancouver marijuana dispensaries have a few extra days grace before an official deadline to close.

In a telephone interview, Andreea Toma, director of licensing and property-use inspections for the City of Vancouver, told the Straight the change is not an extension, “per se”.

“The deadlines are specific to when a six-month count starts,” she explained. “It depends on when they were notified.”

Toronto: Marijuana Job Fair Seeks Weed ‘Brokers’

To find out where this past weekend’s Marijuana Job Fair was being held, you had to text a guy—because of course you did.

The crowd lined up outside 15 Mercer Street in Toronto’s Entertainment District early Sunday afternoon suggested hundreds had done so in hopes of landing a job in an industry poised for growth, as pot legalization—part of the Liberals’ platform in the last federal election—eventually approaches.

Inside, anyone expecting kiosks and brochures would have been disappointed. Although if the absence of resumes in the hands of attendees and the smell of pot wafting down the street were any indication, it’s doubtful many were upset by the laid-back setup.
