Winnipeg Cannabis grower branches out into Grow-Pods

Winnipeg-based Delta 9 Cannabis has added a new venture to its budding craft-grown, high-quality cannabis business - Grow Pods - renovated shipping containers, built in-house utilizing Delta 9’s standardized hydroponic growing methodologies.

Delta 9 was founded by father and son team, Bill and John Arbuthnot, in 2012. They obtained their license to distribute medical cannabis in March 2014, becoming the 4th Licensed Producer of medical cannabis in Canada.

Budweiser creators testing cannabis-infused drinks with medical marijuana company

Budweiser is testing out another beverage to potentially add to their lineup in Canada, cannabis-infused drinks.

Anheuser-Busch’s subsidiary Labatt Breweries of Canada and the pharmaceutical company Tilray are throwing in $50 million a piece to look into the drinks containing THC and CBD oils.

“Labatt is committed to staying ahead of emerging consumer trends. As consumers in Canada explore THC and CBD-infused products, our innovative drive is matched only by our commitment to the highest standards of product quality and responsible marketing,” Kyle Norrington of Labatt Breweries said.

Canada recently legalized recreational marijuana and the industry has thrived in the country.

Whistler Medical Marijuana Corp. sells in deal worth up to $175M

One of the world’s largest cannabis companies has inked a deal worth up to $175 million to acquire Whistler Medical Marijuana Corporation (WMMC), the resort’s first, and so far only licensed cannabis producer.

Edmonton-based Aurora Cannabis announced on Monday, Jan. 14 that it had entered into an all-stock deal, including certain milestone payments, to acquire WMMC.

In a release, Aurora CEO Terry Booth said the deal “adds an iconic, organic certified BC-based brand with exceptional traction and a significant price premium in both the medical and retail markets.”
