A new survey suggests most Manitobans are against drug-impaired driving.

Eight in 10 people said driving after consuming cannabis was “unacceptable” in a Manitoba Public Insurance survey of 1,500 Manitobans.

The survey comes on the heels of MPI’s newest public awareness campaign to curb drug impaired driving.

“The legalization of non-medical marijuana has changed the landscape of road safety,” said Satvir Jatana, vice-president responsible for Communications, MPI, in a news release. “Medical studies and research from leading organizations have reported marijuana use compromises reaction time and the ability to make safe decisions on the road.”

London cannabis stores say they won't join trend to cut hours

But London’s three bricks-and-mortar marijuana stores — all of them open seven days a week — say they have ample supply and don’t plan to decrease operating hours.

The Hobo Recreational Cannabis Store in Ottawa and Canna Cabana in Hamilton are cutting back their hours — closing one day of the week and reducing hours on others — in response to lack of supply.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if the other stores started doing the same thing,” said Michael Armstrong, a professor at Brock University’s Goodman School of Business who studies Canada’s cannabis industry.

Federally licensed cannabis producers get in the game with CBD research

It’s no secret cannabis can be used as a treatment for a number of psychical and psychological conditions. The plant has been used for thousands of years throughout various cultures to manage ailments like joint pain, muscle inflammation, and insomnia. It’s hardly a surprise, then, that a number of athletes have turned to weed for post-game and -training relief.

As perceptions shift, research spikes, and legalization gains traction throughout a number of regions across North America, several professional athletic associations are also changing their tune.
