The shop previously sold loose grounds infused with marijuana but the pods are “quickly becoming big sellers,” said the shop.

Here in Colorado we recently completed the second annual “420” celebrations since the legalization of recreational marijuana in early 2014. Oregon lawmakers to consider sales tax for retail marijuana

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon lawmakers will consider creating a sales tax for marijuana in place of fees applied to growers, the method approved by voters in last year's ballot measure legalizing the drug.

The idea is contained in a lengthy bill that is up for discussion Wednesday in a joint House-Senate committee tasked with implementing Oregon's legal marijuana program.

Proponents of a sales tax say it might be a better way to keep retail pot prices competitive with untaxed black-market prices. They say they'd like to collect roughly the same amount in taxes as they would get from the original method.

Hemp farmers waiting for delivery of seeds

A little more than an acre on Wayne Smith’s Eastern Star area farm is plowed and fertilized, but the highly regulated hemp seeds he requested from the state Department of Agriculture months ago still haven’t arrived.

“I put my order in and I’m waiting patiently for my seeds to arrive,” Smith said Monday. “It’s going to be late in the growing season compared to what I’d like, but I’m hoping for a good first season.”

Delayed while the state awaited import permits from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency for the seeds, which have been illegal to grow without a permit since 1970’s Controlled Substances Act, some farmers in Tennessee were doubtful the approval would come in time to grow a useable crop of industrial hemp this year.
