SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Oct. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Santa Cruz Bakewareā„¢ announces launch of the Greenskeeper project on Indiegogo, ending the home storage nightmare for medical and recreational cannabis consumers.

"Effective storage options remain surprisingly limited given the growth in medical and recreational use," says Michael Jessup, co-founder of Santa Cruz Bakeware.

New York State Moves Closer To Growing Industrial Hemp

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT) -

Ā

New York State stands ready to start growing industrial hemp as part of a research program next year.

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo says the State Agriculture Department has released regulations for the pilot program that will allow universities in the state to apply for 10 licenses to grow and study hemp.

The research crop is related to marijuana, but lacks any significant amount of THC, the psychoactive chemical that makes marijuana a recreational drug.

Instead, industrial hemp is used to make paper, clothing, rope, oils, food products as well as the cannabinoids that are used in medical marijuana.

What Medical Marijuana Teaches Us About Disruption

The Drug Enforcement Agency labels marijuana a Schedule I drug, a classification for ā€œdrugs, substances or chemicals with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.ā€

Most in the United States disagree. The Pew Research Center reports that just over three-quarters of Americans believe marijuana has legitimate medical uses, and significant majorities within states think it should be legalized.

This puts pharma businesses in an awkward position, as new product development or even external communication could rankle the DEA.

Colorado marijuana users sue grower over fungicide

DENVER (Reuters) - Two Colorado marijuana users have sued a cannabis grower claiming a "patently dangerous" agricultural fungicide that becomes poisonous when ignited was applied without their knowledge to pot plants they later smoked, court documents showed on Monday.

Brandan Flores and Brandie Larrabee allege that distributor and retailer LivWell has for years applied Eagle 20, a fungicide that contains the chemical myclobutanil, to its marijuana crop.Ā

The fungicide is approved for certain edible agricultural crops, but not for smokable products such as tobacco, according to the complaint filed in Denver District Court.

"As such, persons who smoke cannabis that has been sprayed with Eagle 20 inhale ... poisonous hydrogen cyanide," the lawsuit said.
