Angels Are More Elusive than You Think – How to Catch a Private Equity Investor

When it comes to seeking an angel investor, many people have the wrong idea about exactly what it is that this type of private equity investor does. Chelsea Clinton 'misspoke' on marijuana risks, spokeswoman says

Speaking at a town hall at Youngstown State University over the weekend, Chelsea Clinton made a remark about the risks of marijuana use that left many drug reform advocates scratching their heads. The daughter of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton suggested that legal marijuana use had contributed to the deaths of people who were using other drugs simultaneously, due to a bad drug interaction.

Oregon Marijuana: A Bump in the Road for Rural Residential Grows

Last week, the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) ruled against a certain cross section of pot growers in the state. The Petitioners at issue wanted to grow medical marijuana on land covered by a “rural residential” zoning designation. When Jackson County adopted a zoning ordinance prohibiting such activity, the growers sued. Because LUBA sided with the County, medical marijuana grows in that jurisdiction will be limited to land zoned exclusively for farm (EFU), forest or industrial use. In that sense, the ruling is fairly narrow, although it could discourage prospective litigants in other counties on similar appeals.

Surplus Marijuana Tax Revenues to be Used for Bully Prevention in Colorado

Surplus marijuana tax revenue could soon benefit your kids, as the state is set to distribute millions to schools in the next few months.

The money comes from Proposition BB, passed by voters last November, which allows the state to keep surplus marijuana tax revenues.

The surplus funds currently amount to about $66 million.

One of the programs benefiting from the surplus funds will be a new bully prevention grant from the Colorado Department of Education.

Just this week, a video of a middle school bully at a bus stop in Commerce City went viral and sparked outrage among community members.

"I think it's a huge problem,” said East High senior Isabel Dias-Bertch. “It's something that haunts you the rest of your life."

First the city fast-tracked the formerly incarcerated for weed licenses; now — new rules would make Oakland part-owner.

On Tuesday night in Oakland, community members and longtime cannabis professionals will go head to head with the Oakland City Council Public Safety Committee on how the term “equity” will be defined in the city’s forthcoming permitting process for the industry.

At issue is the future of Oakland’s legal marijuana industry, and who gets to be a part of it. Council will consider changing its cannabis licensing rules to mandate the city become a 25 percent owner of certain new marijuana business.
