Recycling cannabis related products in Canada just got easy

Although the lack of recycling programs has often proved to be a stumbling block, Canadian cannabis producer Auxly may have a free of cost solution.

Auxly recently announced its partnership with electronic waste (e-waste) recycling company Greentec to create an in-store, free of cost program for retailers for the recycling of vape pens, cartridges and batteries.

The initiative is led by Kolab Project, an Auxly brand that produces biodegradable pre-rolls, edibles, vape cartridges, and disposable pens “while championing arts, culture and design,” according to the company.

Cannabis company executives fight for security clearance against allegations of organized crime links

When legalization of recreational marijuana was on the near horizon, right after the final report by the Liberal government’s legalization task force in late 2016, a would-be cannabis company purchased property in B.C. suitable for cannabis production.

The purchase price was $2.9 million and the company, Grun Labs, Inc., had high hopes after nearly 100 years of marijuana prohibition. In the coming months, another $1.1 million was spent on the project.

Grun Labs applied to be a licensed cannabis producer under the old medical marijuana regulations with Health Canada. The government reviewed the application and had no critical concerns.

Meanwhile, Kan Paul Lum, Grun Labs owner, applied for security clearance, a status needed for him to run his planned business.

Canadians are receiving mysterious seeds in the mail, but need to take heed

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning Canadians not to plant any packages of unsolicited seeds that show up in their mail.

“Do not plant seeds from unknown origins,” the CFIA advises in a statement. “Unauthorized seeds could be the seeds of invasive plants, or carry plant pests, which can be harmful when introduced into Canada. These species can invade agricultural and natural areas, causing serious damage to our plant resources.”

No specifics were provided regarding what types of seeds the packages contain, though it’s highly unlikely they are cannabis seeds.
