Marijuana Stock: This Pot Stock Just Shot Up by 356%

ICC International Cannabis Corp (CVE:ICC) is letting the good times roll, as the new pot producer sees a 356% surge in its marijuana stock value.

ICC is a relative newcomer to the Canadian TSX Venture market, but since its debut on November 29, the stock has gone absolutely bonkers, rising as much as fivefold.

With the up-and-down nature of these marijuana stocks in Canada, the hype surrounding them, and the capital that has followed, we’ve seen some wild fluctuations in marijuana stock prices before.

Make it easier to get medical marijuana, users and supporters say

On a typical day, Daphnée Elisma will fire up her vaporizer and inhale roughly three grams of marijuana.

She can go through a quarter-pound of weed a month, spending about $500 in the process.

But Elisma, 41, isn’t what you might call a burnout.

She’s in her third year of law school at Université de Sherbrooke. Like more than 40,000 Canadians, Elisma is licensed to use medical marijuana. She says the drug helps manage her chronic pain and makes it possible for her to keep up with the demanding schedule of a full-time law student.

Elisma describes the pain in vivid terms.

Canopy Growth enters into agreement to acquire Mettrum in $430M deal

Canopy Growth Corp. of Smiths Falls, Ont., has an agreement to buy rival Canadian medical cannabis producer Mettrum Health Corp.

The $430 million purchase -- which is subject to approval -- will be made with Canopy Growth shares, which closed at $11.80 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Wednesday. Mettrum shareholders will receive 0.7132 common shares of Canopy Growth per common share of Mettrum.

The deal will add “significant acreage” to Canopy Growth’s production capacity and bolster its product offering with two new national brands.

Canopy Growth’s bid for Mettrum represents the company’s most expensive acquisition to date, coming at a time when valuations across Canada’s marijuana industry are seeing massive gains.

Pot Stock: Could This Be the Next Marijuana Stock?

Can ICC Make a Big Impact on Pot Stock?

International Cannabis Corp (CVE:ICC) is the new kid on the block in the pot stock business hitting the Canadian TSX Venture market. And as the name implies, it’s not strictly limited to Canada, with Uruguay set to be one of the key facets of its operation.

Why Uruguay? Because a pot stock based out of there has a pretty big consumer base from which to draw. Of the 3.4 million people living in the South American country, an estimated 55,000 plus engage in marijuana use, sparking up 40 grams per month on average.

Cannabis to Be Tested in Kids with Severe Epilepsy at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children

There has been no rigorous study that's looked at compounds found in pot to reduce seizures.

Researchers at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children are poised to begin a clinical trial using cannabis extracts to treat children with severe epilepsy whose seizures can't be controlled with existing medications.

The trial is believed to be the first in Canada to test an oral preparation that contains both CBD and THC, compounds in marijuana that have been shown in the lab and through anecdotal reports to have anticonvulsant properties in children with treatment-resistant epilepsy.

Canadian LPs Still Best Bets for International Marijuana Investors, Says M Partners

An uncertain political environment down south coupled with international ambitions means Canadian-based Licensed Producers are still the best bet for international investors looking for exposure to marijuana stocks, says M Partners analyst Mason Brown.

Yesterday, Canopy Growth Corp. (TSX:CGC) announced it would acquire German-based pharmaceutical distributor MedCann.

“Germans need access to high-quality cannabis and Tweed’s products are proving to be up to the very strict standards set by the federal government,” said Medcann founder Dr. P. Debs. “Working together as one team will allow Canopy Growth through Tweed, Tweed Farms, and future production sites to supply the unmet demand that has been building over the past decade.”

Canada: 8 Burning Questions About the Coming Federal Pot Report

Who can buy and sell pot, where it will be sold, and who gets the profits, all up in the air.

The federal task force on marijuana regulation and legalization hands over its final report to the government today, moving Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's promise to legalize marijuana one step closer to completion.

The nine members of the task force held roundtables with experts across the country, visited two U.S. states where pot is already legal and got advice from about 28,000 Canadians through online consultations.

It's expected to take days if not weeks for the government to publicly release the panel's report. When it does, here are some big outstanding questions to watch for.

Canadian Cape Breton-Grown Hemp Seed Oil Hits European Stores

Pharmaceutical executive Parker Rudderham wants to tap local farms in effort to expand production.

A Cape Breton pharmaceutical executive is urging local farmers to take a chance on a new crop as the first run of his new company's hemp seed oil hits the shelves of European stores.

Highland Hemp Manufacturing and Exports produced 22,000 bottles of cold-pressed oil that was grown, processed and bottled on Cape Breton. The nutty flavoured product contains Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils and is intended for food, such as salads.

"The market for hemp is a huge market — and we got to get into this whole hog," said CEO Parker Rudderham, who is also president of Pharmacy Wholesale Services Inc.

How to Make an Impact on Giving Tuesday

Throughout the holiday giving season, we're encouraged to support worthy charities with our dollars.

But making donations can be difficult, or even impossible, for people who struggle financially. Luckily, giving back in meaningful ways doesn't have to break the bank.

Giving Tuesday, which always falls on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the U.S., is a national day of giving that kicks off the charitable season. And even though it coincides with the holiday shopping season — which can already be a strain on families with tight budgets — you can make a difference without emptying your wallet.

For Giving Tuesday this year, check out these no-cost ways to do some good.

From Canada to Germany, Cannabis Stocks are Going Global

The cannabis industry has been trending lower since the election with market sentiment in negative territory following the appointment of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions as United States Attorney General.

The recent pullback has been associated with weaker-than-average trading volume and we are monitoring this trend on an industry-wide and a company-by-company basis. The lighter trading volume has had a significant affect on cannabis stocks as the average stock spread has expanded (difference between a stock’s buy and sell price) and we continue to monitor this trend closely.
