Hemp-based foods market growth and business opportunities for manufacturers: Manitoba Harvest, Hemp Oil Canada, Braham & Murray, Jinzhou Qiaopai Biotech

Hemp seeds, or hemp hearts, are the seeds of the hemp plant, or Cannabis sativa. Although marijuana comes from the same plant, hemp seeds only contain a trace amount of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, and they will not get you high. In fact, hemp seeds are safe and very healthy to eat. Hemp Seeds are a gift of nature. They are the most nutritious seed in the world.

Hemp Seeds are a complete protein. They have the most concentrated balance of proteins, essential fats, vitamins and enzymes combined with a relative absence of sugar, starches and saturated fats.

Top cannabis stocks to watch as Jefferies raises industry target to $130 billion

So much so, analysts at Jefferies says the industry could reach $130 billion by 2029.

“This assumes full U.S. federal legalization, full recreational and medical legalization across Europe, full medical and recreational legalization across Lat Am, and cannabis disruption of a number of other industries,” noted the analysts, as quoted by Yahoo Finance. “Industries at risk of disruption are pharma, alcohol, health and wellness, pet care and smoking cessation.”

The analysts join a growing chorus of cannabis bullishness.

Alberta leads the nation in cannabis stores, retail cannabis sales

In the first months following Canada’s legalization of cannabis, the industry has recorded more than $150 million in retail sales with Alberta leading the way according to Statistics Canada.

As of the end of February, there are 75 retail cannabis stores operating in Alberta, 24 of which are in Calgary. The province’s stores have combined to sell $33 million worth of legal marijuana since October 17, 2018.

Alberta’s place at the top of marijuana sales comes as little surprise to industry experts as the province’s store numbers dwarfs all other provinces. Newfoundland has the second-most cannabis stores in Canada with 25 retail outlets currently operating while other provinces have yet to open a single cannabis store.

Why CBD oil might be the answer for our anxious nation

Recently, Karla Ford, daughter of Ontario Premier Doug Ford, shared with her Instagram followers how beyond blissed she was about the “so many amazing” benefits of hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) oil, including for soothing anxiety.

While much was made of the post—since hastily deleted—for its violation of federal rules prohibiting the promotion of anything cannabis, largely ignored was whether evidence exists to support cannabidiol for anxiety, or any other mood disorder.

The cost of weed: What’s the cannabis tab country-wide?

Canadians have had access to legal recreational cannabis for more than four months and, at this point, prices across the country vary somewhat from province to province.  So how much does a gram of weed cost across Canada?

“Each province and territory in Canada controls distribution, with many of them being the sole distributor of cannabis, similar to alcohol,” explains Lisa Campbell, CEO of Lifford Cannabis Solutions, a cannabis brand agency. “As such, each supplier negotiates rates, which are subject to the federal excise tax, as well as different provincial taxes.”

Pot bylaw may not be needed

A city bylaw governing cannabis use in public may not be needed, according to the head of a city council committee who said before last fall’s legalization that local rules should be developed.

Now, considering an absence of complaints from the public, Coun. Julie Friesen tells the News that the city was adequately prepared and provincial guidelines that became the default in Medicine Hat are working.

“We’re not experiencing any of the things we maybe were expecting,” Friesen said Monday. “I think it’s fair to say that we may not need to bring in a bylaw.”

Pot became legal to buy and posses about four months ago, and local authorities have reported little trouble related to the recreational use of the once banned substance.
