Six Nations has set a new cannabis law saying eight per cent of sales have to go to community projects. The territory's elected council passed a law Feb. 25 saying permit holders who produce, process, distribute or sell marijuana have to contribute to the community.

Eight per cent of gross cannabis sales at the end of the month will go to the elected council, says the new law.

Council will use that money to help with roads, parks, post-secondary education, the swimming pool or bowling alley, or other projects that help youth or elders.

Harvest One Cannabis Inc (CVE:HVT) (OTCMKTS:HRVOF) struck an agreement Monday to be a medical cannabis supplier to Shoppers Drug Mart through its wholly-owned subsidiary and cultivation arm United Greeneries Ltd.

Although it was not the company’s first profitable quarter, it was the first time it achieved profits that were high as a percentage of revenue. Canopy’s Q3 earnings showcased a business moving closer and closer to consistent profits. Although the company posted an operating loss in the quarter, the loss was down from the prior quarter, indicating that Canopy is inching toward both net and operating profitability.

From the classic pot brownie to cannabis-infused cotton candy, there is no shortage of options for edibles at an illicit dispensary in downtown Toronto.

Among the people lining up to browse and buy, one 34-year-old IT worker chooses gummy bears for what he says is his first-ever edibles purchase. The Toronto man, who did not want to be named, said he preferred edibles over smoking cannabis because he can avoid the pungent smell and partake indoors.

"These are more convenient," he said, adding that among his friends who are cannabis users, half of them say edibles are their form of choice even though they aren't legal in Canada yet.
