Consolidation trend shows cannabis growers are buying labs

Cannabis now falls under Health Canadaregulations, like any other consumable product. That means more business for lab-testing companies because growers, and producers of capsules, oils and other cannabis-based products, must have their products tested by licensed labs to determine potency and the presence of heavy metals, pesticides, yeast and mould.

A couple of dozen independent labs across Canada are licensed to test cannabis products. But there has been a trend lately where bigger players in the medical marijuana industry are not content to merely contract out their testing and research. They have been acquiring testing and research labs to bring that expertise in-house.

Winnipeg councillor looking to limit amount of medical pot grown in homes

A Winnipeg city councillor says it's time to move large scale medical marijuana grow ops out of residential neighbourhoods and into industrial areas.

Health Canada says people with a registered certificate to grow medical pot in their homes for personal use can possess up to 150 dried grams or 300 fresh grams.

There can also be up to four registrations in place for production at one location.

Coun. Ross Eadie says he's been receiving complaints about suspected medical grow ops causing odour and noise problems in two neighbourhoods.

“A person’s right to medical cannabis does not trump people’s right to live comfortably next door,” says Eadie

This ultra-premium focused pot stock is approaching the cannabis market completely differently

As the cannabis industry finally takes off after nearly a century of prohibition, investors have neglected to ask themselves a central question. It might seem too obvious to even ask, but as you’ll see in this report, that is not the case at all. That question is, who should cannabis be marketed to?

I’m going to make the case here that the big and familiar players in the cannabis industry are all ignoring this critical question. I’m going to show you how one small and extremely undervalued ultra-premium focused cannabis firm is one of the very few answering it correctly.
