Pot and your pet: Veterinarians seeing more THC toxicity in dogs

"Your dog is positive for THC, and she's really high right now."

That's something Jennifer Wright never expected to hear from the on-call veterinarian at the Animal Hospital of Cambridge.

Coco, the Wright family's nine-month-old Yorkie-Havanese cross, had been acting out of sorts that evening.

"She was really lethargic, she picked her head up and it was wobbling," Wright said. "So I picked her up and I tried to set her down on the ground, and that's when I noticed ... her back end was sort of swaying back and forth. She looked like she was going to fall over, and she could not walk, she would not walk."

The family piled into the car and franticly tried to find a clinic that was open in the off-hours.

Why Tilray stock is tanking today

What happened

Shares of Tilray (NASDAQ: TLRY) are tanking today, down by 10.3% as of 10:40 a.m. EDT. The big drop reflects investors' disappointment with the Canadian cannabis producer's second-quarter results , which were announced on Tuesday after the market closed.

Why investors need to bet on this 1 cannabis stock

Aurora Cannabis (TSX:ACB)(NYSE:ACB) stock is on the verge of a breakout. It has burnt significant investor wealth in the last 10 months. Aurora investors have lost over 37% since October 2018. Several cannabis stocks were overvalued at the end of last year, just before Canada regularized marijuana for recreational purposes.

After that euphoria died down, cannabis stocks fell significantly. Shares of peer companies such as Canopy Growth, Tilray, and Aphria have lost 41%, 74%, and 52%, respectively, since the start of October 2018. So, will Aurora shares move higher in the coming months?

Experts and advocates skeptical pot conviction pardons will benefit northerners

Canadians with simple cannabis possession convictions will be eligible for record suspensions, but advocates and experts say it won't be so easy.

Bill C-93 came into force this month, and allows people to get fast-tracked record suspensions at no cost. A record suspension prevents a criminal record or pardon from appearing in the National Repository of Criminal Records.

The legislation waives the previous $631 application fee and ends the application wait period of up to 10 years.

"What it doesn't get rid of, is the lead-up costs," said Samantha McAleese, a PhD candidate in sociology at Carleton University who researches recent changes to Canada's pardon system.

B.C. liquor branch wants to hear from suppliers of pot-based edibles

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch wants to hear from licensed marijuana producers able to make and supply new pot-based creations as the province prepares for the soon-to-be legalized edible cannabis market.

The branch has issued a product call, asking would-be suppliers to identify their interest and ability to provide the branch with edibles, beverages, topicals and extracts.

A statement from the liquor distribution branch says successful applicants will see their products marketed throughout the province in both licensed private retailers and government-run BC Cannabis Stores.

The product call opens Thursday and closes on Sept. 11.

1 incredibly cheap weed stock you can buy now

An interesting investment option you should consider in the cannabis space is The Green Organic Dutchman (TSX:TGOD) or TGOD.

The company is the only cannabis producer to be certified organic — the key factor in propelling the stock. You should take advantage of the weed stock’s incredibly low price.

Latest developments

TGOD has jumped on the bandwagon of Canadian cannabis companies listing on U.S. exchanges.

Last week, the company applied to list on the NASDAQ — a move intended to attract the big institutional funders and broaden TGOD’s investor base.
