Marijuana: This is How Presidential Hopeful Scott Walker Wants to Tackle the Issue

If he were elected president, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker says he would enforce the federal law that bans the use and sale of marijuana, which includes enforcing it in the states which have legalized it.

During a radio interview with KTRS 550 on Wednesday, Walker said he believes the legalization of marijuana is a states’ rights issue, but if there is a federal law that makes its use and sale illegal, then that law must be enforced:

“For me, I think that should be a state issue, but I also think that you can’t ignore the laws. And until the federal government changes the laws you don’t get to pick and choose in a just society whether you enforce the laws or not. You have to change them.”

Walker added that he is personally against the legalization of marijuana, but he isn’t against Congress legalizing it:
