Is Secondhand Marijuana Smoke as Dangerous as Secondhand Cigarette Smoke?

A new study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association suggests that hanging out with stoners is potentially more harmful to your health than secondhand cigarette smoke. Researchers at the University of California San Francisco, led by Dr. Matthew Springer, found that artery functioning in rats exposed to one minute of secondhand marijuana smoke was reduced three times as long as when rats were exposed to one minute of secondhand tobacco.

Medicinal Cannabis Now Legally Available in NSW, Australia

A long-anticipated loosening of the availability of medicinal cannabis is expected to offer new treatments and choice for a range of patients.

New South Wales doctors can legally prescribe medicinal cannabis for their patients from Monday when new regulations come into effect.

Under the amendments to the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods regulations, cannabis-based medications will be available to a range of people for whom more mainstream treatments are not effective.

Cannabis-based medicines were previously only available to patients enrolled in clinical trials in NSW, but Premier Mike Baird said under the regulatory changes the drugs could be prescribed for patients who have exhausted standard treatment options.

MS Patient's War for Weed Wins Croatia a Legal High

When Huanito Luksetic was arrested for growing marijuana to help him cope with multiple sclerosis, he could not have known his struggle would eventually pave the way for Croatia to legalise cannabis for medical use.

“I knew it would happen eventually,” says Luksetic, recalling the day in October 2014 when police burst into his home near Rijeka on the northern Adriatic coast, seizing some 20 kilos (44 pounds) of marijuana.

“When they knocked on my door, it was a kind of relief,” he admits.

Released on bail soon after his arrest, he is now on trial for marijuana production and sale, although he was growing it for personal medical use only. If found guilty, he faces up to 12 years in jail.

Maiden Name Kept Woman from Medical Marijuana

Lacey resident Linda Schroeck-Connors keeps passing out.

It has happened at the Ocean County Mall and ShopRiite, resulting in trips to the emergency room. She has lost consciousness many times at home, and has a service dog, Venus, to warn her when an attack is on the way.

"This week alone, I have had five seizures," said Schroeck-Connors in a recent email. "I'm home alone all day and it's a very scary thing."

Schroeck has epilepsy. And recently her doctor had a potential solution to her problem: medicinal marijuana. A bureaucratic snafu kept her from getting an identification card from the New Jersey Medicinal Marijuana Program until Press on Your Side got involved.

Minnesota Pain Patients Buy Medical Cannabis, Is Recreational Pot Next?

Minnesota may have already legalized medical marijuana but it wasn’t until Monday that pain patients of the state finally had the opportunity to buy it. Even though the Minnesota state legislature legalized the drug for medicinal purposes in 2014, strict laws banned the plant form in favor of pills, oils and vapors.

Arizona's Medical Marijuana Fund Continues to Grow, Sits (Mainly) Unused

Cannabis researchers say recreational marijuana won't impact work

If the initiative to legalize recreational marijuana passes this year, Arizona’s existing medical marijuana program will be put under the umbrella of a newly formed agency.

Arizona voters will decide Nov. 8 if they want to legalize recreational marijuana — that’s if Arizona business leaders aren’t successful in blocking the vote through the courts.

In 2010, Arizona voters passed the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, making it legal to buy the Schedule 1 drug for medicinal purposes only. That move created a budding industry ranging from medical marijuana dispensaries to consulting and marketing companies.

How Medical Marijuana Farming in Israel Could Help California's Cannabis Industry — and Vice Versa

Only four days before the summer solstice, the air is hot and heavy, the sky cloudless. The road along the highway is spotted with shrubbery, gas stations and occasionally vast rows of crop, somehow withstanding, even thriving under the tenacious desert sun.

Driving south from Tel Aviv along Ayalon Highway, the scenery looks almost identical to Southern California — if not for the Hebrew-lettered billboards, the green-clad soldiers waiting by desolate bus stops and the occasional black-hatted Orthodox men walking along the road.
