Investing in Marijuana Delivery Services

By Jeff Siegel

As the foundation of marijuana prohibition continues to crack under the pressure of common sense and millions of rational voices, all kinds of new opportunities are appearing in the marijuana space. One in particular is the marijuana delivery service.

Of course, such a thing has long existed. It’s just that it was illegal. But with more and more states and provinces legalizing marijuana for medical and recreational purposes, it’s now existing on the up and up.

As an investor, I’m always looking for a new opportunity. And in the marijuana space, there are certainly some good ones. GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: GWPH) has actually been a very good one for me this year, delivering gains of nearly 70%, YTD.

Meet The Willy Wonka of Weed

There’s no chocolate river running through the new Altai Brands facility in Salinas. It’s missing a hoard of diminutive green-haired employees, there are no booby-trapped candies that expose children’s flaws, and as far as we know the company has yet to develop a snozzberry flavor. But still, Altai is the closest thing in existence to a Wonka-esque cannabis-infused chocolate factory—and co-founder Rob Weakley is its Willy (sans purple velvet suit).

Ore. warns marijuana growers against illegal pesticides

Authorities are warning Oregon marijuana growers to be very careful using pesticides.

The Oregon Department of Agriculture said Wednesday it has drawn up a pesticide advisory, which the Oregon Health Authority is sending to registered medical marijuana growers around the state.

The advisory says no pesticides have been specifically approved for use on marijuana, which is still illegal on a federal level, and the health and safety impacts on cannabis workers have not been evaluated.

Department of Agriculture spokesman Bruce Pokarney says rules for pesticide use are being drawn up along with a host of other rules for growing and selling retail marijuana.

Figuring out the demand for product in a particular area determines so much about one's business, according to Kayvan Khalatbari, founding partner at Denver Relief Consulting. Once someone knows how much marijuana they should grow and/or sell, they can establish how much room they will need for their establishment.

Washington Recreational Marijuana Sales Numbers Decline For First Time

By Johnny Green

The State of Washington legalized recreational marijuana in November 2012. But it wasn’t until July 2014 until recreational marijuana sales started. After the delayed start of recreational marijuana sales, recreational marijuana sales numbers in Washington climbed steadily month after month. That streak ended last month when sales numbers took a dip in Washington for the first time. Per Marijuana Business Daily:

Confident or Cocky? A Quiz to Measure Your Startup’s Swagger

If you’ve been recruited to work at a startup, or are crazy enough to start one, chances are that you’ve dealt with issues of confidence.

Both in terms of your co-workers, or even yourself, it can often feel like riding a roller coaster: rising from the heights of overconfidence, plunging to the depths of under-confidence, and then just as suddenly back up again.

To help you determine just how much swagger you and your colleagues actually have in the tank, I’ve devised this 13-step self-administered questionnaire. It takes only a couple of minutes, so no need to overthink it—just answer quickly and honestly with a true or false, and then tally up your score of positive answers.
