Ontario looking to ship same-day pot ahead of bricks-and-mortar rollout

Ontario is looking to speed up its pot shipping service after it posted a tender on its provincial procurement website seeking a courier for "expedited same-day delivery." The Ontario Cannabis Retail Corporation, which operates the Ontario Cannabis Store and is currently the only way to purchase legal cannabis in the province, says its same-day delivery pilot project is estimated to start on or about March 1. The initial rollout of this service will be focused on the Greater Toronto Area, with potential to extend to the rest of the province.

California-based Caliva taps Joe Montana, Carol Bartz in latest fundraising round

Caliva, one of the top-selling brands of marijuana products in California’s legal market, raised US$75 million in a fundraising round counting Joe Montana, the former Hall of Fame quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and former Yahoo! Inc. CEO Carol Bartz as investors. Caliva’s CEO Dennis O’Malley says the company will use the funds to expand its distribution and product line, including pot-infused beverages and a line of lotions to help treat sleeplessness and anxiety.

Flowr doubles growing capacity in Kelowna facility

Canadian pot producer Flowr announced it received the necessary approvals from Health Canada to increase its growing capacity at its cultivation facility in Kelowna, B.C.The company expects to produce approximately 10,000 kilograms of premium cannabis flower at the 85,000 square foot facility in 20 grow rooms, which is up from 10. Flowr noted the expansion should bring its facility to 50 per cent completion, but did not specify when it intends to be fully complete.
