These Canadian cannabis tech companies will be hot this summer

This summer, Canada will likely pass monumental federal legislation to fully legalize cannabis for recreational purposes. Like U.S. businesses, many Canadian cannabis companies have been operating “on the fringes” of the business world because of the federal cannabis status. Very soon, this will no longer be the case in Canada. Here are some businesses that are poised and ready to take the cannabis tech world by storm.

Cannabix Technologies Inc.

Cannabix Technologies, Inc. (CSE:BLO) (USOTC:BLOZF) is trying to solve some of law enforcement’s most significant issues when it comes to cannabis enforcement. While standard breathalyzer tests are commonplace for driving under the influence of alcohol, the same solution does not exist for cannabis. But Cannabix is trying to change that with their durable and portable THC breathalyzer product to detect cannabis for law enforcement accurately. The company expects it to be used for roadside testing as well as on-the-job testing.

Future Farms

Future Farm Technologies (CSE:FFT) (OTCQX:FFRMF) boasts state-of-the-art technologically advanced indoor growing platforms. They have a specific focus on vertical farming and LED lighting technology. Their tech is so good; their patented indoor farming technology can provide a ten-fold yield increase over conventional farming methods. FFT is based in Canada but is expanding into other markets, such as the Puerto Rican market. They’re also making a significant investment in lighting systems as well as extraction methods.

Greenstream Technologies

The blockchain is making its presence known in the cannabis industry, and Greensteam Technologies certainly has a role. The company is developing a supply chain management platform that is blockchain-enabled. Although still in the initial stages, the platform will bring integrity to the cannabis marketplace--growers, sellers, and even government regulators. Blockchain technology started out with Bitcoin but has already been applied to many financial services and logistics transactions worldwide. Greenstream is a subsidiary of BLOK Technologies (CSE:BLK).

Radient Technologies Inc.

Extraction is Radient’s  (TSX-V:RTI) bailiwick. The company is poised to revolutionize the extraction methods with their patented microwave extraction process. The company already uses biological materials in extraction processes designed for the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, nutritional supplement, and cosmetics industries. Now, their products are evolving by applying that same extraction technology to the cannabis industry. Their goal is the three P’s--purity, price, and potency. Their microwave technology preserves the cannabis terpenes which hold the aromatic compounds that give cannabis strains their unique aromas and flavors. Radient and Aurora, a leader in Canada’s medical cannabis market, have just joined forces and have obtained their Controlled Drugs and Substances Licence from Health Canada.

Knalysis

Every market needs data analysis, and the cannabis market is benefiting from the unique efforts of Knalysis’ therapeutic data analysis techniques. The data regarding patients, physicians and dispensaries is growing at an exponential pace. Enter Knalysis’ cloud-based data analysis software to help everyone determine the best strain, quantity, and mode of ingestion for each ailment or condition. The collective Information from the patients is given back to the grower to streamline the results to retail market further.

Knalysis has apps to track patient wellness and apps to manage treatments. The result is real-time data at the disposal of physicians and dispensaries on what works--and what doesn’t. It’s pretty cool.
