Traditional Colleges Enter Cannabis Education

Professional education on the cannabis industry is becoming broader-based and easier for young professionals to come by – which could help create a better prepared workforce for marijuana companies.

Colleges across the country are beginning to latch onto cannabis as a new course topic, with classroom instruction on law and policy involving the marijuana industry. Vanderbilt University, the University of Denver Law School, Oregon State University and the Santa Clara University School of Law all offer a variety of courses that specialize in the legal aspects of cannabis.

The topics run the gamut, from thousand-foot looks at the industry and its various legal issues to more specific focuses, such as the University of Denver Law School’s “Representing the Marijuana Client.”

And in Oregon, college kids may even get to help shape state policy. Professor Seth Crawford, who is teaching “Marijuana Policy in the 21st Century,”...
